Collaborative training

Collaborative training provides doctoral students with a first-rate, challenging research training experience, within the context of a mutually beneficial research collaboration between academic and partner organisations in the private, public and civil society sectors.

Environmental science PhD students are not restricted to careers in academia and frequently go on to work in areas across the environmental sector and beyond. To equip our students with desired technical, professional and personal skills and industry-appropriate experience, NERC support a number of collaborative training initiatives such as CASE studentships.

This vision is shared across the research councils and is outlined in the document below.
