Interested in politics?

We have secondment schemes with the Parliamentary Office of Science & Technology, the Scottish Parliament Information Centre and the Welsh Assembly Parliamentary Service that offer NERC students the chance to spend three months writing parliamentary briefing notes.

For more information see the secondment scheme page.

Interested in entrepreneurship?

We fund a scheme that allows postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers to develop their understanding of all aspects of starting up a business in the natural sciences. Teams attend the workshop and hear presentations and case studies on commercialising their science ideas. On the final day teams present business plans to compete for a place in the Final, and the opportunity to win a range of prizes.

For more information see the Environment Yes page.

Researchers In Residence (RinR)

The scheme provides the opportunity for post graduate research scientists to work with Students in Secondary Schools and Colleges. It also provides an opportunity for the scientists to demonstrate that science can be interesting and fun.

More details about Researchers In Residence are available on the Research Councils UK website.
