The grantholder should publish the results of the research in accordance with normal academic practice and the RCUK policy on access to research outputs - external link.
Publications and other forms of media communication, including media appearances, press releases and conferences, must acknowledge the support received from the research council, quoting the grant reference number if appropriate.
Journal publications should acknowledge the funding source using the standard format agreed by funders and publishers as below:
"This work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council [grant number xxx]."
Further guidance on acknowledgement of sources of funding is available from the Research Information Network - external link.
Grant holders can help to ensure continued funding for environmental science research remains a priority by acknowledging NERC when publicising their research.
Grantholders should notify the NERC media office when a paper based on NERC-funded research is accepted for publication.
NERC is committed to the principles articulated in the RCUK statement on access to research outputs and to ensuring that the ideas and knowledge derived from its research, survey and monitoring activities are made available as widely, rapidly and effectively as practicable.
NERC has established an e-print repository, NORA - external link, to improve access to outputs of its research centres.
