New Investigator research grants
Closing date: 1 February 2012
This competition is held each year for Investigators at the outset of their scientific career and who are within three years of first becoming eligible to apply for NERC funding as a Principal Investigator. We will take account of any career breaks.
The maximum funding that may be sought is £100,000 for the total fEC. This limit applies to the total (100%) of the full economic cost of which NERC will fund 80%.
This scheme excludes applicants who have already received previous research funding as a Principal or Co-Investigator (other than as a Researcher Co-Investigator) from NERC or any other funding body in the UK or overseas.
Applicants must be the sole investigator, and may submit only one application per annual competition.
External review will only be used where the initial college reviews are deemed insufficient.
No studentships are awarded under this scheme.
Please note
The New Investigator scheme will cease to operate as a separate scheme after the completion of the February 2012 call. It will be integrated into the Standard Grant scheme from December 2012.
