NERC employs over 2,500 people at locations throughout the UK.
From scientific positions based at research centres and universities, to technical and support staff based at our Swindon head office, NERC offers a wide range of roles.
Most scientist jobs will be based at one of our research centres or within a research team at a UK university or institution. These roles are usually open to graduates or scientists with postgraduate qualifications such as a masters or PhD degree.
Environmental science jobs can specialise in a range of different disciplines, such as ecology, physics, genetics, geology, earth sciences, ocean and marine sciences, environmental science, information technology, computer science, data modelling and meteorology.
These roles provide support to our core scientific research programmes and discovery science projects, and can range from mechanical engineer to ship ROV technician.
Head office and support staff
Our head office and support roles provide the management and administration of NERC's business operations, with positions in areas such as IT, facilities, science programme management, finance, HR and communications.
