Benefits

Flexible working & family-friendly policies

Other flexible working practices include:

  • unpaid parental leave
  • special paid leave.

Pensions

We offer a choice of pension arrangements, including a defined benefit scheme. Further details on pension options can be found at our JSS Pensions website - external link.

Holiday

In addition to 30 days annual leave as standard, NERC employees enjoy 10·5 days public and privilege holiday per year.

Health & welfare

  • contractual sick pay
  • welfare service

Training & development

NERC encourages and supports development not only in terms of the needs of the job, but also for future career development.

We offer good training packages including the potential for support to study for academic or professional qualifications.

Our Swindon campus office

Our centrally located Swindon campus - shared with six other research councils and hosting approximately 1,300 staff - provides a pleasant and comfortable working environment.

The purpose-designed building, set in its own grounds, is convenient for Swindon bus and railway stations, shops and leisure facilities. The offices provide access to free on-site parking (waiting list in operation) and cycle sheds, hot and cold food and a spacious eating and social area.
