Best estimate of the value of the UK marine environment
a knowledge exchange case study
In January 2003, Plymouth Marine Laboratory was commissioned by the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit to study the medium to long-term issues facing UK fishing.
The aim of this project was to develop a long-term strategy for the sustainable future of the UK marine fishing industry, taking into account the need for the sustainable management of marine resources, the diverse and changing circumstances of the fishing industry and the social and economic development of communities that depend on fishing. The Strategy Unit published the final report in 2004.
