Remote sensing for forestry: using a translator/facilitator
a knowledge exchange case study
A science and technology translator has been introduced to act as an intermediary between those people using remote sensing in the forestry sector and the scientific research base.
The translator works to improve how the Forestry Commission, and the forest industry in general, use remotely-sensed data from aircraft and satellites. The translator supports effective management and monitoring of the UK's forests by translating NERC's results (and other funded research projects) for those who need to use them. They also act as a focal point to exchange ideas, expertise and technical insight.
