Carbon Capture and Storage
Announcement of Opportunity

The closing date for this AO was 29 September 2009.

The Research Councils' Energy Programme (RCEP) is bringing together engineers and scientists from many areas to tackle the research challenges involved in creating new energy technologies and understanding their social, economic and environmental implications. EPSRC leads the Energy Programme, in which BBSRC, ESRC, EPSRC, NERC and STFC work together to develop and deliver energy research and training within a common strategic framework, using a whole systems approach.

For this RCEP call £1·4m has been earmarked to support a study of the ecosystem impacts of geological carbon storage and £1·4m to support a whole systems analysis of carbon capture, transport and storage, both of which will be undertaken by multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional consortia. The successful consortia will each comprise a number of academic institutions, together with active stakeholder involvement.

Please see the Announcement of Opportunity document below for full details of the call.
