Invitation to Tender

Remote sensing technology for next generation platforms

Closing date: 15 January 2009, 16:00

NERC's Technologies Theme Leader is seeking advice on remote sensing technology for next generation platforms and wishes to explore the potential of new instrumentation technologies targeted for, and ultimately mission proven on, emerging next generation aerial platforms. The next generation of platforms includes long duration UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), zeppelins and high altitude platforms (HAPs).

The Natural Environment Research Council invites tenders for the action of carrying out a scoping study to provide a review of the remote sensing technology sector, in order to facilitate the development of detailed plans for research activities in the 2009 Theme Action Plan for the Technologies theme.

The role of the consultant will be to undertake a scoping study that will highlight novel remote sensing technologies, which can utilise and exploit current aerial platforms to deliver high quality science in the near to medium term, but with design focus on future platforms built in.

A contract will be awarded up to the value of £50,000 for the study, which will be of approximately four months duration.
