Centre for Ecology & Hydrology
The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is the UK's centre of excellence for research in land and freshwater environmental sciences. Their work encompasses a wide range of environmental disciplines ranging from the smallest genes to whole Earth systems.
CEH research is improving understanding of the Earth's life support systems. They are particularly interested in: the impacts of climate change, water issues, chemical and physical process in the natural world, sustainable use of natural resources, and the affects of human activity on natural environments. CEH is providing solutions to today's pressing environmental problems.
CEH's annual budget is around £33m. NERC provides over £23m; the rest is from external funding.
CEH has four research sites located in England, Scotland and Wales.
