Libraries, archives and research information services
NERC's libraries and archives contain comprehensive collections which reflect the breadth and depth of scientific activity in the environmental sciences. The collections include personal and business archives, special collections, unique periodicals, reports, historical and contemporary maps and images.
The print collections themselves are housed in libraries at NERC's research centres and their sites.
NERC also supports its scientific research through an online information service for staff. This provides desktop access to a range of research resources and services, including NERC's Open Access Repository, NORA.
NERC's library services has integrated the resources of three of its Research Centres (British Antarctic Survey, British Geological Survey and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology) whose extensive collections are searchable through WorldCat portal, as is their open access repository NORA.
Access arrangements for external researchers and the public, who wish to visit the libraries themselves, are given below:
British Antarctic Survey (BAS)
British Geological Survey (BGS)
Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH)
National Oceanography Centre (NOC)
Research centres affiliated to NERC also have library collections:
Marine Biological Association UK (MBA) and Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML)
Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS)
