UTLS-OZONE
Programme background
The programme provided the research needed to let scientists make authoritative statements when discussing ozone change with policy makers.
The programme aimed to:
-
increase knowledge about ozone change, climate change, global atmospheric pollution and consequent risks to the environment
-
provide a way to quantitatively predict changes in ozone and climate caused by both human activities and natural events
-
provide high quality data on atmospheric composition and physico-chemical processes in the mid latitude upper troposphere and lower stratosphere, store these, and make them available to all interested parties
-
rapidly disseminate important findings to policy makers and other stakeholders and to increase people's understanding the science. An expert panel of UTLS OZONE scientists is available via the web site to answer questions
-
rapidly disseminate results to scientists and others, through meetings, conferences and published research.
