Timetable to 2013
The key national and international activities in the run-up to the new IODP programme are outlined below.
UK timeline
A review of the UK IODP was carried out in December 2010. A summary of the findings of this review can be found below.
UK IODP review executive summary (148KB)
The Earth systems science theme leader will start to work on a plan for a new research programme to support UK IODP activities in early 2012.
The deadline for the UK to send an expression of interest to join the new international programme is mid-April 2012.
NERC Science & Innovation Strategy Board (SISB) will be presented with the first version of the research programme proposal in autumn 2012 for their input and feedback.
SISB will be presented with the final version of the research programme proposal in spring 2013.
ECORD timeline
The revised ECORD business plan, the new science plan and the ECORD evaluation report will be submitted to all ECORD potential partners for the next phase at the end of January 2012.
The deadline for ECORD potential partners to send an expression of interest is mid-April 2012.
It is anticipated that the ECORD MoU will be signed mid-2013.

The MoU between ECORD and other international agencies will be signed following all the above activities, and before October 2013.
