Ocean Shelf-Edge Exchange

Sensors on Autonomous Underwater Gliders workshop

Closing date: 16:00 on 07 October 2011

A workshop will be held in order to facilitate the development of high-quality proposals that address the Sensors on Autonomous Underwater Gliders programme requirements.

Date of Workshop: 14 October 2011
Venue: National Oceanography Centre in Southampton
Workshop Convenor: Professor Gwyn Griffiths (NOC)
Estimated start time: 09:30
Estimated finish time: 15:30

The objectives of the workshops are to:

  • ensure the research community is aware of the NERC National Capability available to support research, such as the glider facilities and biochemical sensors developed under the Oceans 2025 programme, as well as the collaboration opportunities arising from the Ocean Shelf Edge Exchange research programme (for example, use of ship-time and fast day boats, and observational and modelling data);
  • discuss science challenges and possible approaches to undertaking the research; and
  • discuss opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

Please register to attend the workshop by completing the online registration form by 16:00 on 07 October 2011.

Individuals interested in submitting proposals to deliver the programme are encouraged to attend. Spaces at the workshop are limited to 30, so the number of registrations from the same research group should be managed if possible.

Attendance at the workshop is not a prerequisite for submitting a proposal to the Announcement of Opportunity for this programme.

Further details of the workshop and agenda will be circulated to delegates prior to the meeting.

NERC will pay essential travel and subsistence costs to support attendance at the workshop, that fall within NERC guidelines for appropriate expenditure. Note that first class travel is not permitted and taxi fares can only be claimed in exceptional circumstances where there is no practical alternative.

For further information about the workshop and how to register please contact Jessica Batchelor.
