Advisory Group membership and Strategic Advisor role

NERC/ESRC invites applications from individuals interested in joining the Advisory Group and/or applying for the Strategic Advisor role for the Increasing Resilience to Natural Hazards (IRNH) programme.

Guidance for applicants
Eligibility
Applications from any UK-based or international individuals with relevant research or related backgrounds or interests who are able to make the necessary commitment to the research programme are welcome to apply.
The programme will cover all reasonable travel and subsistence costs occurred through Advisory Group membership responsibilities. The programme will not pay IRNH Advisory Group members for their contributions. The Strategic Advisor will be remunerated for his/her involvement and time.
Assessment criteria
The final choice of IRNH Advisory Group membership will be made by the Programme Executive Board and will be based on the following criteria (not in priority order):
- the IRNH Advisory Group's balance of representation across academic, stakeholder, international and co-funder communities;
- relevant expertise;
- cross-community knowledge;
- contacts and links;
- with attention to the mix of gender and ethnicity; and
- the applicant's track record.
NERC/ESRC reserves the right to appoint members to the Group to achieve the balance of representation required.
Key dates
The timetable is as follows:
- open announcement of opportunity for self-nominations - published September 2010 (this document);
- closing date for nominations - 16:00 on Thursday 7 October 2010;
- IRNH Advisory Group members and Strategic Advisor invited - October 2010 (the list of IRNH Advisory Group members will be published on the research programme's website in October 2010); and
- first meeting of the IRNH Advisory Group - Q3 2010-11.

The application will consist of completion of the application form below in Times New Roman or Arial, 12 point. Applicants may attach an up-to-date CV (no more than 2 sides A4) in support of their application.
