QUEST
A UK strategy for ocean biogeochemistry modelling as a component of Earth System Models
QUEST recognises that ocean biogeochemistry modelling is an area of rapidly increasing importance and global visibility, and funds ocean biogeochemistry modelling development and applications in response to this.
QUEST's Scientific Liaison Group (tasked with helping QUEST make the best possible use of synergies) and invited guests came together to share information about organisational strategies and identify common areas of engagement and potential for action through a longer-term UK strategy.
Presentations were made on the current status and planned strategies for ocean biogeochemistry modelling under the Oceans 2025 programme, at the Hadley Centre, and under QUEST. These presentations can be viewed below.
Oceans 2025: A UK strategy for ocean biogeochemical modelling (8·7MB)
The QUEST perspective on a UK strategy for ocean biogeochemical modelling (8·7MB)
The Met Office strategy for ocean biogeochemical modelling (1·5MB)
The report of the meeting will be published here once ratified by the attendees. The outcomes of this first step in thinking about a UK strategy for ocean biogeochemistry modelling will be used by QUEST, NERC and the Met Office to inform modelling direction.
