Aims and objectives

The programme aimed:

to develop a new Europe-wide approach for developing instrumentation whose criteria for selection closely match the scientific strategy developed by NERC
to ensure that scientists and engineers work together to deliver timely, cost-effective measurement systems
to ensure full international peer review of selections under this system
to ensure agreement to this approach with other European nations.
