Ice Sheet Stability
Announcement of Opportunity
Closing date: 22 March 2011
Proposals are invited for a major new research programme on Ice Sheet Stability. This £7·4m programme directly relates to the delivery of the NERC climate systems and Earth system science themes and aims to improve understanding of the key ice sheet and ocean processes that affect ice sheet stability. The programme will contribute towards Living With Environmental Change (LWEC) objectives.
It is expected that four proposals will be funded, one to address each of the deliverables within the programme. Up to £4·4m is available for the call.
Proposals for this call are invited from eligible UK researchers; see the NERC Research Grants Handbook for eligibility criteria.
It had been planned to hold a logistics and operations workshop at BAS on 26 January 2011 to support this call. However, after reviewing the responses to the workshop, it has been decided that it will be more effective to communicate directly with people on their individual requirements. Therefore, the event has been cancelled.
BAS will be in direct contact with all who have expressed an interest, in order to discuss logistics for proposed traverse activities. Anyone intending to submit a proposal who has not yet been in contact is strongly encouraged to contact the Programme Manager, Andy Smith.
The closing date for proposals is 16:00 on 22 March 2011.
