Regional Assessment Inception Meeting
The Ecosystems Services for Poverty Alleviation (ESPA) Programme held an Inception Meeting for the Situation Analysis consortia on 3-4 September 2007 at Church House Conference Centre, Westminster, London.
ESPA will
be working to build the multi-disciplinary international research community
that will address the challenge of how to achieve sustainably managed ecosystems
that contribute to poverty reduction and well being improvements in developing
countries.
Aims of this event were:
- to bring together the five consortia to exchange ideas about how they will perform the assessments and refine methodology;
- to exchange information on the data and infrastructure they hold (or will hold in the course of the assessment);
- to allow the Programme Management Group (PMG) to monitor whether the required direction is being taken;
- to allow the PMG and Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) to see the portfolio of projects and meet the teams;
- to build capacity, network and make links for future potential consortia.
And to introduce the regional assessment consortia to a wider audience
of stakeholders and interested individuals within the funding organisations.
The meeting was an opportunity for members of the consortia carrying out the Regional Assessment to exchange ideas and information and meet with relevant members of relevant organisations and initiatives.
