Environmental & Social Ecology of Human Infectious Diseases (ESEI)
Aims and objectives
The vision for this initiative is the establishment of truly interdisciplinary teams of researchers, conducting high quality state-of-the-art innovative research, addressing national/international research priorities that will inform and impact on policy and practice.
The research councils recognise that the establishment of truly interdisciplinary teams of researchers and the development of state-of-the-art collaborative research proposals in this area is challenging. Therefore this will be a phased and interactive initiative, with support for proposal preparation:
- Workshop
(9 October 2009)
Aims to facilitate interaction between researchers from different backgrounds.
- Phase I - Catalyst Grants
(closing date 16 December 2009)
Funds to enable the development of new interdisciplinary partnerships and development of research ideas.
- Phase II - Research Consortia Grants
(closing date 16 March 2011)
Aims to fund interdisciplinary teams of researchers conducting high quality innovative interdisciplinary research that would not usually be supported through existing funding schemes. Eligibility for a Research Consortia Grant is by invitation only, following assessment of Catalyst Grant proposals.
