Changing Water Cycle

Workshop reports

The Changing Water Cycle programme held a one day interactive workshop on 3 February 2010 to aid the development of research proposals to address the science questions posed within the four themes of the programme.

NERC has allocated up to £5m for the initial phase of this major new £10·1m programme, which directly relates to delivery of NERC strategy and UK Governments Strategic goals with respect to the adaptation to, and mitigation of, climate change.

The workshop addressed the call and provided the opportunity for those intending to submit proposals to:

  • discuss what is in the science plan and the general scope of the call;
  • network and form collaborations/consortia; and
  • receive feedback from NERC and the programmes Advisory Group on potential ideas for proposals.

A list of attendees can be downloaded below.

In 2010 an Announcement of Opportunity will be made that invites projects to address the programme's regional-focus of South Asia. Matched funding has been secured for this activity, through RCUK India, from the Indian Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).

To build partnerships and facilitate collaboration, the UK Changing Water Cycle programme held a joint workshop with MoES on 16-18 February 2010 in New Delhi. The aim of this workshop was to bring the research communities from the two countries together to enable them to discover and then discuss areas of mutual interest.

A full report on this workshop and a list of attendees can be viewed on the RCUK India website.

For further information on the South Asia regional focus, and the Changing Water Cycle programme in general, please see the programme science and implementation plans.
