Changing Water Cycle

Announcement of Opportunity
Third call

Closing date for full proposals: 12 June 2012

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) invite outline bid proposals for research on the impacts of the changing water cycle on hydrological and biogeochemical responses within UK catchments, over timescales of 10 to 50 years.

Up to £1·8m is available for this call and we anticipate making two awards of approximately £0·9m each.

This activity forms the third and final phase of the Changing Water Cycle programme. This is a five-year, £10·1m research programme that directly relates to the delivery of NERC strategy.

In order to manage demand and to reduce the burden on applicants and reviewers, the call will initially be for outline proposals. These will be reviewed by an assessment panel and no more than six proposals will be invited to submit full proposals. It is anticipated that projects will be up to three years in duration.

Submission of an outline proposal is mandatory in order to participate in the funding round at the full proposal stage.

The closing date for outline proposals is 16:00 on 28 February 2012.

The closing date for full proposals is 16:00 on 12 June 2012.
