Programmes and grants
NERC and EPSRC co-funded the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Consortium (UKCCSC) from their 2002 Spending Review allocation for energy. Recently, under the Research Councils' Energy Programme, NERC and EPSRC have each funded one consortium project after an announcement of opportunity was issued in July 2009. Two consortium bids were funded:
NERC
Potential ecosystems impacts of geological carbon storagePI: Mr J Blackford, Plymouth Marine Laboratory
EPSRC
Multiscale whole systems modelling and analysis for CO2 capture, transport and storagePI: Prof S Durucan, Imperial College
Other programme and grants:
UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) Programme
UK Carbon Capture and Storage Consortium (UKCCSC)
Carbon Capture and Storage: Realising the Potential PI: Prof Mike Bickle, Cambridge University
Predicting the fate of CO2 in geological reservoirs: Mineral-fluid kinetics PI: Dr Jim Watson, Director of Sussex Energy Group
