NERC revises definition of Responsive Mode funding
NERC's 2004 Blue Skies Review showed that the research community has a varied understanding of what Responsive Mode is and what it is for. As a consequence, one of the key actions identified in the current Responsive Mode Action Plan (RMAP) is to clarify the definition of Responsive Mode.
Following a consultation exercise, which involved a number of key stakeholders including two current Science & Innovation Strategy Board (SISB) members, we have updated the definition of Responsive Mode. The new definition is now available on the NERC website and shows how this funding stream encourages adventurous, technology-led and multi-disciplinary proposals.
