Marine Ecosystems Research Programme timetable

NERC and Defra would like to announce the indicative timing of some key dates for the Marine Ecosystems Research Programme.

The main aim of the Marine Ecosystems Research Programme is to improve our understanding of how marine ecosystems are being impacted by on-going environmental change, to develop more realistic marine ecosystem models and test potential management solutions.

The planned timetable for key programme activities going forward is as follows:

  • Mid November 2012 - Release of an Announcement of Opportunity for outline grant proposals.

  • 6 December 2012 - A workshop at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory to:

    1. ensure the research community are aware of the NERC National Capability - in terms of facilities, infrastructure, modelling, etc - and partnership opportunities with UK agencies that may contribute to the delivery of research;
    2. discuss the science challenges and possible approaches to undertake research; and
    3. discuss opportunities for collaboration.

    (Note: registration for this workshop will open when the Announcement of Opportunity is published)

  • 31 January 2013 - Deadline for outline grant proposals.

Individuals interested in submitting a proposal are encouraged to attend the workshop, as attendance may provide an opportunity to start to develop collaborations with other scientists. However, attendance of the workshop is not a prerequisite for submitting a proposal.

This information is provided in good faith to help researchers prepare to respond to the funding opportunities. However, plans are subject to change and so timing cannot be guaranteed until formal announcements are issued and proposals invited.
