Council funding decisions
As set out in the Delivery Plan 2011-2015, it is NERC's plan that, over a ten-year period, research programme funding should increase and national capability funding should decrease as a proportion of the overall Spending Review allocations that NERC receives.
Council has recently agreed a series of actions that will help to deliver this. It has approved funding for eleven new research actions, investing approximately £60m across NERC's seven strategic science themes. Increased investment in strategic research programmes has been enabled by prioritisation of national capability. Council has accepted recommendations to reduce or redirect funding across a range of national capability investments.
