Can genes inserted into GM crops find their way into soil organisms?

Scientists have found that this type of gene flow is extremely rare. There is no evidence that genes can move from plants to soil bacteria outside the laboratory.

Scientists at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology in Oxford have investigated this topic as part of a joint programme with the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) called 'Gene Flow'.
