Shelf Sea Biogeochemistry final science meeting
5-6 June 2017
University of Winchester
A final science meeting for the Shelf Sea Biogeochemistry (SSB) programme is being held at the University of Winchester, on Monday 5 June (10:00-18:00) and Tuesday 6 June (09:00-16:00). The purpose of the meeting is to collectively finalise the programme's scientific results, and to develop synthesis outputs and conclusions.
Those who have had substantive involvement in the SSB programme, either through fieldwork, modelling, data analysis or programme management, are invited to attend. Other meetings are planned later in the year to subsequently disseminate main policy-relevant outcomes to key stakeholders.
Individuals wishing to participate in this meeting should complete the online registration form as soon as possible, and no later than the closing date of 17 May 2017.
Accommodation in student rooms has been reserved for the nights of 4, 5 and 6 June, with costs paid by the programme. However, it should be noted such accommodation is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees from Southampton and Portsmouth are encouraged to attend on a day delegate basis. Travel and subsistence costs will be met by NERC but delegates must follow the Research Council Travel, Subsistence & Expenses Policy (PDF) - external link - guidelines and be within the limits found in Appendix 2.
Offers of oral presentations for the meeting should be discussed with relevant SSB Work Package leaders (or the SSB science coordinator, for those not directly aligned to a Work Package) as soon as possible, and no later than mid-April. Offers of posters, with two-slide / two-minute talks, should be identified on the registration form. For most oral presentations, multi-author groupings will be necessary.
The main venue for the meeting will be the Stripe conference centre, University of Winchester, Sparkford Road, Winchester, SO22 4NR (#18 on the University of Winchester campus plan (PDF) - external link). The Stripe building is 10-15 minutes walk from Winchester railway station, with frequent services to London Waterloo, Southampton Central and Southampton Airport.
