Sustainable solutions from science
NERC science makes an important contribution to the economy and improving people's well-being. This brochure provides some examples of where our research has made an impact.
Through a series of case studies we demonstrate how we are:
- providing useful and timely research which contributes directly to policy development, monitoring and assessment;
- helping the UK to remain competitive within a global economy by translating scientific advances into new goods and services, or helping people react quickly and effectively to environmental hazards;
- encouraging commercialisation of science through licensing, joint ventures and new companies;
- helping skilled people move between scientific research and the wider economy.
