NERC Chairman receives knighthood

The Chairman of the Natural Environment Research Council, Robert John Margetts, has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for services to science and business.
NERC's Chief Executive, Professor Alan Thorpe, said, "I am delighted that Rob has received this award. He has for the last five years been an outstanding Chairman of our Council, offering us wise counsel and a strong steer. His understanding of the science field combined with his long experience in business, for which he receives his award, has been such a benefit to us. I offer him our warmest congratulations."
Sir Robert Margetts CBE FREng FIChemE is a Governor and Fellow of Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Institution of Chemical Engineers.
He is a member of the Council for Science & Technology and of the Advisory Committee for Business & Environment. He has also been a member of the Foresight Steering Group.
Rob Margetts is currently Chairman of Legal & General Group plc, Chairman of the BOC Group plc and Chairman (Europe) of Huntsman Corporation. He is also non-executive Director of Anglo American plc.
