New Year Honours

The Natural Environment Research Council extends warmest congratulations to colleagues who have received the Queen's New Year Honours in recognition of their outstanding services to science.
Our congratulations go to:
Professor Charles Godfray, FRS, from the University of Oxford. He is a member of NERC's Council and was formerly the Director of NERC's Centre for Population Biology at Imperial College. He has been awarded the CBE for his services to science.
Dr Carol Turley, a senior scientist at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, who has been awarded an OBE for her services to science.
David Ovadia, Director of International Relations at the British Geological Survey, and Professor Philip Woodworth, a senior scientist at the National Oceanography Centre, Liverpool, who have both been awarded an MBE for their services to science.
Our congratulations also go to Lord John Selborne, Chairman of the Living With Environmental Change partnership, who receives the Knights Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE); and Professor Adrian Smith, FRS, Director General, Knowledge & Innovation at the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills, who receives a Knighthood.
