Queen's Birthday Honours

The Natural Environment Research Council extends warmest congratulations to colleagues who received Queen's Birthday Honours this year, in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
Our congratulations go to:
Professor John Rex Beddington, CMG, Government Chief Scientific Adviser and a former member of NERC Council, who has been awarded a knighthood.
Professor John Graham Shepherd, FRS, Professorial Research Fellow in Earth System Science, and former Director of, the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, who has been awarded a CBE for services to science.
Professor Robert Stephen John Sparks, FRS, Chaning Wills Professor of Geology at the University of Bristol and a former member of NERC's Science & Innovation Strategy Board. He has been awarded a CBE for services to Environmental Science.
Professor Anthony George Doré, Vice-President for Global Exploration at Statoil, a member of the Ocean Margins LINK Programme management committee and also a grant assessor for NERC. He receives an OBE for services to Geology.
