NERC Annual Report 2008-09 published
27 July 2009
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) has today published its Annual Report and Accounts 2008-09. The report was laid before Parliament on 16 July 2009.
The report sets out NERC's significant progress in delivering its strategy Next Generation Science for Planet Earth, now in its second year of the five-year plan.
It showcases some of the research carried out under each of NERC's seven priority science themes – such as the importance of bees and other pollinators to British agriculture, the links between ozone levels on hot days and increased death rates in people, and the pioneering use of satellite navigation systems in measuring wind and waves to help predict major storms.
The Annual Report also highlights the environmental, economic and political benefits of working with international partners, commercialising research outcomes and investing in people.
The report can be downloaded as a PDF or ordered online from the publications page. To order direct from the NERC publications team, please call 01793 411750.
