Annual Delivery Report 2007- 08
24 July 2008
NERC has published its Annual Delivery Report for the period 2007-08.
The Annual Delivery Report 2007-08, published on 23 July 2008, illustrates NERC's progress in implementing the priorities described in NERC's Delivery Plan and Scorecard for 2007-08. It complements NERC's Annual Report and Accounts which outlines the wider view of NERC investments and activities.
Of the 79 activities from the scorecard, 62 were successfully completed in 2007-08. Notable highlights include: agreement of funding for the follow-up to the Rapid Climate Change programme, RAPID-WATCH; generation of significant income from external sales of services and data; and establishing the new Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation.
The Annual Delivery Report also includes some of NERC's most important achievements in 2007-08 that are not captured by the Scorecard. These include construction of the Environment Centre Wales, discovery of water on an extra-solar planet, and development and launch of the cross-council programme Living With Environmental Change (LWEC).
The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) requires all seven UK research councils to produce an Annual Delivery Report as part of the department's performance management system for the research councils. The 2007-08 Delivery Report is the final report against the 2005-08 Delivery Plan and Scorecard.
