NERC Chief Executive and Council members visit Antarctic research station

Earlier this month NERC Chief Executive, Professor Alan Thorpe, visited the Rothera base in Antarctica to view and discuss the research carried out there.
He was accompanied by Professor Chris Rapley, Director of the British Antarctic Survey, and two members of NERC's governing Council - Professor Howard Dalton, Chief Scientific Adviser at the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), and Mr Edwin Jenner, a technology & business consultant.
Professor Dalton has captured his Antarctic adventures in a fascinating web log which you can read on the Defra website.
BBC science correspondent, David Shukman, is also spending time with our scientists in Antarctica. His web log can be seen on the BBC News website.
