      <description>&lt;div&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Grade:&lt;/strong&gt; NERC-7 (£19740-£23390) - Full Time&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Location:&lt;/strong&gt; NERC - BGS Cardiff&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Closing date:&lt;/strong&gt; Friday, May 31, 2013&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Reference:&lt;/strong&gt; IRC92731&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Primary Tasks &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;1.  Help develop and deliver applied geoscience research to underpin land use planning, sustainable development and regeneration in Wales&lt;br /&gt;2.  Help identify and pursue opportunities (grants, research programmes and commissioned work) to enhance reputation and impact of the BGS Geology and Landscapes program in Wales&lt;br /&gt;3.  Help develop collaborations across BGS and with public sector stakeholders and academia in Wales to deliver integrated multi-disciplinary projects within which an understanding of applied geology in city regions is a critical component of the role&lt;br /&gt;4. Contribute to on-going BGS science projects across the UK and occasionally internationall.&lt;br /&gt;5. Contribute to scientific papers and preparation of high quality technical/scientific proposals, reports, briefings, enquiries to enhance personal reputation and impact of BGS science in Wales&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Secondary Tasks&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;1.  Help identify opportunities to promote the work of the BGS science programme, principally in Wales&lt;br /&gt;2. Contribute to a broader range of geological projects and stakeholder-facing activities run from the BGS office in Cardiff&lt;br /&gt;3. Develop relevant personal scientific knowledge and skills and comply with corporate management standards&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description>
