NERC has published its annual Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for 2016-17

5 October 2017

NERC is committed to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the abolition of modern slavery and human trafficking.

Modern slavery describes offences of human trafficking and slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour. To help prevent modern slavery, the UK government implemented the Modern Slavery Act in 2015. The act requires all commercial organisations supplying goods or services, with an annual turnover in excess of £36 million, to prepare a modern slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year. The statement sets out the initial steps NERC has taken to help ensure there is no modern slavery in its business and supply chains, and details what else we intend to do in the coming months.
