Understanding of the Impacts of Hydrometeorological Hazards in South East Asia - Networking workshop
10-11 October 2017
NERC and ESRC are inviting applications from UK scientists to attend a networking workshop for the Understanding of the Impacts of Hydrometeorological Hazards programmes NERC is developing with partner funding agencies in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines.
The workshop will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 10-11 October 2017 and is being hosted by the Ministry of Research, Technology & Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Ristekdikti). Over two days the aims of the networking workshop will be:
- To launch the five Understanding of the Impacts of Hydrometeorological Hazards in South East Asia programme interdisciplinary calls and present an overview of the call aims and objectives.
- To facilitate links between the UK and Southeast Asian research communities in the area of hydrometeorological hazards by providing an opportunity for researchers to network and begin to develop ideas to address the aims of the call.
Applications from environmental science and / or economic and social researchers working in the fields of hydrometeorological hazards, including floods, droughts, landslides and related disciplines, are welcome. It is expected that approximately 20 UK participants will be invited to attend and NERC will try to ensure a balance of different disciplines / expertise and the number of attendees from the same institution.
Reasonable travel and subsistence expenses for UK participants attending the workshop will be covered.

The deadline for applications is 16:00 (BST) on 18 July 2017. Submission of the online registration form will be taken as indicating availability on the dates of the workshop. Invited participants will be notified on 21 July 2017.
The full programme of the workshop and further details will be circulated to successful applicants in September 2017.
Attendance at the workshop does not automatically enable project bids to be submitted or guarantee funding. Conversely, absence does not preclude bidding into the call.
