Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs)

In January 2012 NERC announced it would introduce changes to the way its Training Portfolio is managed. The major change is a move away from the current algorithm-based system for allocating doctoral studentships to the use of a competition to award Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) to institutes or consortia. This will result in funding being concentrated in fewer providers.

Since January, we have been working with the NERC Training Advisory Group (TAG) to develop the detailed working of the DTP competition. An update on the competition was provided in August 2012 following a request from members of our community who wished to start to think about preparing bids. This document can be seen below.

NERC Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs): Clarifications

Following discussions with the community, we have clarified certain aspects of the DTP competition. These include amendments to the definitions of DTP partners, the rules for CASE partners and the required attachments needed for each proposal. The closing date for the DTP competition is 1 May 2013.
