We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to join the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology Finance team as a Decision Support Accountant (DSA), based at our Wallingford Site. The post is responsible for providing financial management and control for Science Sections under a Science Programme. The main aspects of the role are:
· Providing financial information and support to the science community
· Having an active role in the development and monitoring of project budgets and expenditure
· Providing advice on any activity that has a financial impact
Main Duties
This post will be working with three Science Sections based at Wallingford, providing information and support to Section Heads. There may be a need to visit other sites within CEH and NERC. The main duties are set out below.
- Prepare strategic plans, budgets and forecasts for Science Sections.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for Science Sections.
- Review strategic plans, budgets, forecasts and financial reports with Section Heads, ensuring there is a common understanding of the financial position.
- Provide financial support to scientists developing bids and grant submissions.
- Carry out quarterly performance reviews of projects against budgets with Project Leaders, Section Heads and support staff, to ensure that project budgets held on RMS and Oracle are an accurate reflection of scientific work being carried out.
- Produce reports setting out results of project performance reviews and review these reports with Section Heads, ensuring there is a common understanding of the financial position of projects.
7. Recognise revenue on projects in the accounts each month.
