The National Oceanography Centre, part of the Natural Environment Research Council, is a national research organisation, delivering integrated marine science and technology from the coast to the deep ocean and is one of the top five institutions of its kind in the world.

With sites in Liverpool and Southampton, it is the UK’s leading centre for sea level science, coastal and deep ocean research and technology development. Working closely with its partners and associates it provides capability to meet the needs across the UK marine science community.

The International CLIVAR Project Office provides support for the international activities of the World Climate Research Programme's study on Climate Variability and Predictability (CLIVAR).  The Project Office, led by a Director, is based at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton.

A PA/Administrator is required to join this busy international team.  You will work with international staff scientists, involved in atmospheric, oceanic and climate modelling and climate change detection, working towards the development and implementation of CLIVAR's programme of research.  The efficient running of the Project Office is integral to the Project’s success.

You will be experienced in managing the Director’s diary and travel arrangements, be able to work on your own initiative and take responsibility for developing and maintaining the office administration, including some aspects of financial control.

The fixed term position is part time (20 hours per week) available until 31st March 2014 and the starting salary will be in the range £8,551 to £10,324 per annum (pro-rata to £15,820 to £19,100 per annum).
