Carl is a flight operations manager and chief pilot at NERC's Airborne Research & Survey Facility in Oxford.
My job is to support the science programmes. This has even taken me close to the North Pole - we were looking at the break-up of sea ice due to rising sea temperatures. This is a completely different experience to anything I've done before.
During my time here I have been able to appreciate the importance of science and gain a greater understanding of how research has practical implications for our day-to-day lives.
Before this post I was a captain on an air ambulance flying sick or injured people from third world countries to hospitals in the west - another unforgettable job.
