Our work at Swindon Office
NERC is both a funder and a provider of environmental science. Our research centres are mainly providers of research. The role of our Swindon Head Office is to:
- Provide corporate leadership and coordination of strategy, planning, decision-making, performance management, reporting and external relations for the whole of NERC.
- Act as the UK funding organisation for environmental science: developing policy and administering funding to universities, public sector research establishments and (in some cases) private sector partners.
- Provide support services for NERC; eg finance, IS/IT, people, estates, communications.
The work at Swindon Office is structured under four directors:
- Science
- People and Skills
- Innovation and Communications
- Finance & Operations
These Swindon-based directors work closely together as a team and with research centre directors on the NERC Executive Board and with the Chief Executive.
