Oceans 2025 programme
A recent example of working through the scheme of delegation is the Oceans 2025 programme proposal.
The Science & Innovation Strategy Board (SISB) provided guidance to the programme proposers and managed the peer review process for the programme. It provided advice to NERC Council about the quality and relevance of the science proposed in the Oceans 2025 programme and on the funding levels it thought would support the programme best.
The NERC Executive Board considered SISB's advice alongside any issues associated with the delivery of the programme. This advice was then passed to Council via the Chief Executive. Council made its final decision based on the advice received from both sources.
