NERC Open Research Archive (NORA)
We have developed a repository for research outputs (such as electronic copies of published papers) to improve people's access to the science being delivered by our research centres. NERC's research repository, known as NORA, went live in spring 2007.
NERC has mandated that any published, peer-reviewed paper which has been supported by NERC funding since October 2006, is to be deposited in a repository (with acknowledgement of the relevant NERC grant or project). This is of course subject to publisher's agreements.
Staff at NERC's research centres can deposit and archive material into NORA. NERC award holders in universities are expected in the first instance to deposit within the repository of their host institution, or failing that, in the 'Depot' facility run by Edina. However, if these are not available, NERC funded research can be deposited in NORA.
The following research centres or delivery partners have implemented additional additional research repositories:
